Stanford, Texas Finish Atop Final ITA National Rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. (May 20) – Following their NCAA Championship titles, the Stanford women and Texas men concluded the 2019 season No. 1 in the final ITA National Rankings that were released on Wednesday.

The Cardinal women, who defeated Georgia 4-0 on Sunday for back-to-back titles, extended their NCAA-record national championship total to 20, while the Texas men defeated Wake Forest, 4-1, to claim their first national title.

Both Georgia and Wake Forest, the 2018 national champion, finished the year No. 2 after their runner-up showings at the NCAA Championships.

Rounding out the women’s top 10 were North Carolina, Duke, South Carolina, Pepperdine, UCLA, Vanderbilt, Texas and Washington.

The Ohio State men, who entered the NCAA Championship as the top seed and ranked No. 1, finished third and were followed by Florida, Virginia, Baylor, USC, North Carolina, Mississippi State and TCU.

Georgia Tech, which climbed from 41st to 35th after posting a first-round victory in the NCAA Championship, made the largest jump in the women’s rankings, while Oklahoma State (15-12), UCF (23-20) and Texas Tech (26 to 29) moved up three spots.

UC Santa Barbara, which defeated No. 24 Texas Tech in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, made the biggest leap on the men’s side, moving from being unranked to finishing No. 41 in the men’s rankings.
