SAN MATEO, Calif. – Eight total members of the Pepperdine men's and women's tennis teams were named to the West Coast Conference All-Academic teams, the league announced on Wednesday.
 
To be considered, student-athletes must have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average, have at least sophomore academic and athletic status, and be a significant contributor to the team.
 
Juniors Daniel De Jonge and Tim Zeitvogel earned first-team status following De Jonge's 3.82 GPA in Economics and Zeitvogel's 3.98 in Mathematics. Sophomore Pietro Fellin also made the cut on the honorable mention squad, posting a 3.425 in pre-business administration.
 
On the women's side, five Waves earned the acclaim led by senior Ashley Lahey with a 3.95 GPA in sports medicine- the graduate's fourth such award of her career. Sophomores Lisa Zaar and Astrid Olsen posted 3.83 and 3.76 GPAs respectively with Zaar in the International Studies program and Olsen studying pre-business. Graduate senior Jessica Failla earned a 3.59 in her second master's program- Legal Studies- adding a third WCC All-Academic award to her career.
 
Graduate student Shiori Fukuda was named to the All-Academic honorable mention squad with a 3.65 GPA in the Global Business master's program.
 
Both teams earned spots in the NCAA Tournament this season, as the men made it to the second round and the women made the furthest push in program history, finishing in the championship match as runners up.
