FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Senior Aurelija Miseviciute dismantled opponents in rapid style leading the 14th-ranked University of Arkansas Razorback women’s tennis team to prevail, 6-1, over No. 34 Tulsa (3-1) on Sunday at the Dills Indoor Tennis Center.

Fans packed the tennis center to get a peak at one of the nation’s top teams along with some of the best players.

“This is certainly a great venue to watch high level tennis, and the quality of play today made for a great spectacle,” said Razorback head coach Michael Hegarty.

Miseviciute, ranked second nationally in singles, quickly disposed of Alexandra Kichoutkin, 6-0, 6-2.  The win expanded the Razorbacks (2-0) lead to 2-0 after claiming the doubles point earlier in the match.

Freshman Emily Carbone shot past Marta Marcinkowska, 6-3, 6-2, for her fifth-straight singles victory, pushing the Hogs’ lead to 3-0.  The clincher came as Anouk Tigu fired a missile past Thalia Diaz-Barriga winning 6-2, 6-3, and claiming the match for Arkansas.

“We always have great matches with Tulsa,” Hegarty said. “We have a lot of respect for their program and to win 6-1 is a big plus.”

Senior Ela Kaluder defeated Jie Zeng, 7-5, 6-1, extending the Arkansas lead, 5-0.  With the match already claimed, the final two matches went to three-sets and ended with a super-tiebreaker.  Nanar Airapetian dropped Caroline Bealieu on Court 5, while Kate Lukomskaya fell to Anastasia Erofeeva.

Arkansas snagged the doubles point early on as Miseviciute and Kaluder topped Zeng and Erofeeva, 8-3, before Carbone and Lukomskaya clinched the point, 8-5, over Barriga and Ewa Szatkowska.

The Razorbacks will be back in action at the Dills Indoor Tennis Center Wednesday at when they take on the SMU Mustangs, with first-serve set for 3 p.m.
