Miami Tennis To Play at FGCU Invite

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team will travel to Ft. Myers, Fla., this weekend to compete in the FGCU Eagle Fall Invitational which will run from Friday, Sept. 28 through Sunday, Sept. 30.
“The FGCU Invitational is another opportunity for our guys to compete at a high level against opponents from the state of Florida,” said head coach Mario Rincon. “We are going to play a ton of matches which will allow us to continue evaluating our guys on what they need to improve and work on.”
In addition to Miami and FGCU, UCF, FAU, and Barry will be competing in this year’s tournament held at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
In the fall lid-lifter, Diego Soto played into the Round of 16 and four other players battled to the Second Round of the Bedford Cup in Gainesville, Fla. Victor Mauz, Omar Aly, Mark Schanerman and Marco Stancati each won their first round matchup in straight sets.
Aly and Schanerman topped the overall No. 1 seed to earn a spot in the doubles quarterfinals while Stancati and Wilfredo Gonzalez defeated a duo from FAU to move on to the Round of 16.
