2008-09 (SOPHOMORE SEASON) All-Sun Belt Conference doubles' selection with Calvin Kemp...All-Louisiana second-team selection...Ranked No. 67 (w/Calvin Kemp) in doubles in the final ITA rankings and No. 11 (w/Kemp) in the final ITA South Central Region rankings...Finished the 2009 dual season on a high note, winning three straight matches and 7 of 9 to finish the year 12-6...Wins included a SBC tournament victory against Louisiana-Lafayette's Pitor Olechowski in three-sets on 4/18...Started the season by winning a crucial three-set match at No. 4 against Hannon Bartsch to help Privateers pick up first win in school history against No. 59 South Alabama (1/25)...Won first five matches of the season, before falling in a third set super-tiebreaker at #46 SMU (2/8)...Posted an 8-2 mark when lifted to the No. 3 spot in the lineup and was 2-1 in Sun Belt play...Also went 4-3 at No. 4 and 0-1 at No. 5...Teamed with Kemp to become the first UNO doubles' tandem to be nationally ranked, reaching a high of No. 42 after defeating the then-No. 9 duo of Michael Venus and Neal Skupski of LSU...Kemp and Smith would remain ranked through the end of the year, finishing their season with an 8-2 doubles' mark and ranked No. 67 - joining Viktor Loven (2003) as the only Privateers to end a year amongst the national rankings...The tandem dropped their first match together against a nationally-ranked duo from Southeastern Louisiana (2/25) and later, a setback against the No. 8 Division II doubles' team from West Florida (4/7)...Also teamed with Jose Gaspar, posting a 5-4 mark (5-3 at No. 2) and Oliver Cuthill (0-1 at No. 2).
