At UTEP -- Elisa Björklund had a stellar junior campaign, leading the team in both singles and doubles wins in 2002. She has played predominately at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles over the past three years. She had to sit out this past fall due to injury. Look for Björklund to return to the lineup in the spring. Last season, she ranked third in single-season doubles winning percentage (.750), while her 37 wins ranked as the ninth-top total in combined wins. She also ranks ninth in single-season combined winning percentage (64.9). Björklund ranks 10th in career doubles wins (37), and eighth in career doubles winning percentage (52.1).

2001-02 (Junior) -- Björklund led the team in singles wins (16) and doubles wins (21), after notching a 16-14 singles record and a 21-7 doubles mark. She teamed with Callie Dand to set the UTEP doubles tandem record for wins with 21, eclipsing the mark of 19 set by Jennifer Diaz and Kristina Jarasova in 1995. She was named WAC Player of the Week for the week of March 5. Björklund went 4-6 in singles and 5-5 in doubles in the fall. For the second straight year, Björklund won in the first round of the Omni Hotels Southwest Regional, dropping Baylor?s Alison Bradley, 6-1, 6-0. Björklund teamed with Callie Dand to win the doubles backdraw at the Rice Fall Invitational. Björklund and Dand also won their first round match at the Omni Hotels Southwest Regional.

2000-01 (Sophomore) -- Björklund made great strides as a sophomore. She finished the year with the best single-season turnaround in program history, after winning just three matches her entire freshman campaign. She notched a 14-11 record as a sophomore. Björklund finished the season with a 7-6 dual match record and went 7-5 in tournament play. During the spring season, Björklund had key wins over No. 17 Washington?s Kathy Chi, 7-6, 6-7, 6-4, and No. 53 New Mexico State?s Caroline Blechschmidt, 4-6, 7-6, 6-4. In the fall, she went 3-1 at the Rice Invitational to claim third place in Flight C. She added a 2-1 record for another third-place showing at the Houston Fall Classic in the No. 5 Flight. Björklund landed a first-round victory over Eve Nickelson of Texas-Pan American (8-5) at the ITA Southwest Regional, before falling to nationally-ranked (No. 10) Chin Bee Khoo of Arkansas.

1999-00 (Freshman) -- Björklund acclimated herself to the collegiate level, competing at the No. 6 singles and the No. 3 doubles spots for the Miners. Björklund finished the 1999-00 campaign with a 3-20 singles record, including 1-12 in dual matches. She teamed with Ana Brnas (1-1), Jana Perkova (2-1) and Elizabeth Stone (0-8) to finish the season with a 3-10 doubles mark during her freshman season. Björklund combined with Jana Perkova to reach the Round of 16 at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships in doubles.

Prior To UTEP -- Björklund was a Top 30 Swedish player in the Under-18 national rankings. She played basketball in addition to tennis in high school. Björklund was named the best player in tennis, as well as led the team in scoring in basketball at Tibble Gymnasium High School.

Personal -- Björklund is the daughter of Hans and Terttu Björklund. She has one brother (Christoffer). Björklund is majoring in business administration. She was born on 9/24/79 (Taby, Sweden).
