MADISON, Wis. – For the second-consecutive season, the Wisconsin women’s tennis team recorded a 6-1 victory over Old Dominion on the Lady Monarchs’ home court in Norfolk, Va.

With the win, the Badgers improve to 8-3 overall, while Old Dominion falls to 9-3.

UW swept the Lady Monarchs in doubles, recording 8-6 victories on all three courts.

The pair of senior Alaina Trgovich and junior Hannah Berner earned their fourth-straight win with a victory over Diana Ivanova and Melissa Esnal Olguin at court one.

At No. 2, seniors Aleksandra Markovic and Angela Chupa stopped Aleksandra Mitrovska and Juliana Pires, while sophomore Nicky Stracar and freshman Nova Patel defeated Nika Khmolovska and Faith Atiso.

A tiebreak loss in lieu of a third set at court five prevented a sweep in singles for Wisconsin.

Playing at the top spot for UW, Stracar recorded a 6-2, 6-1 win over Ivanova.

Despite dropping the first set at No. 2, Trgovich battled back to take the second set and a third set tiebreak, finishing off Mitrovska, 5-7, 6-2 (10-4).

At No. 3, Berner lost just three games in a 6-2, 6-1 win over Esnal Olguin.

Freshman Sarah Loebel defeated Kina Khmolovska in a tight match at court four, 6-4, 6-4.

Competing at the No. 6 spot, Chupa shut out Atiso, 6-0, 6-0.

Patel’s rally at court five fell short as the Wisconsin freshman suffered Wisconsin’s lone loss of the match, dropping a 6-4, 1-6 (10-5) decision to Pires.

The Badgers close out the road portion of their non-conference season tomorrow at 62nd-ranked William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va. First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m. CT.
