Junior Stephane Piro and senior Bob van Overbeek had their run end on Saturday in the Quarterfinals of the 2013 NCAA Doubles Championship, losing to No. 4 seeded Jarmere Jenkins and Mac Styslinger of Virginia. With the loss, the Florida men’s tennis season has concluded.
After falling behind early in the first set, Piro and van Overbeek fought back to take a 6-5 lead but were unable to hold on. The Virginia duo then won the first set in a tiebreaker.
The match remained close in the second set getting to 4-4, but the Cavaliers won the final two games to advance to the semifinals with a 7-6, 6-4 victory.
Piro and van Overbeek finished the season with a 15-10 doubles record and earned All-America honors after reaching the NCAA Quarterfinals this week.
