Cornelissen Named Pac-10 Honorable Mention
Wednesday, 07/15/2009

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The Pac-10 Conference announced its men's and women's tennis postseason awards on Monday night and Oregon junior Alexander Cornelissen was named honorable mention by a vote of the league's coaches.

Cornelissen posted a singles record of 9-13 in dual matches this season and combined with teammate Marcos Verdasco to form the Ducks' top doubles tandem, posting a mark of 13-11 this season exclusively at No. 1 doubles.

Cornelissen, a native of Lauwe, Belgium, played at No. 2 and No. 3 singles for the Ducks, battling through numerous injuries to stay on the court in 2009. He knocked off a pair of ranked foes this season, including Washington's Patrik Fischer in the regular season finale in Eugene.

The Oregon men's and women's tennis teams wrapped up the 2009 season last weekend at the Pac-10 Individual Championships in Ojai, Calif.
