EUGENE, Ore. - Oregon director of tennis and men's head coach Nils Schyllander has announced the signing of Aaron Clissold for the upcoming 2009-10 season.
Clissold, a native of Ruse, New South Wales, Australia, recently graduated in the top-3 percent of his class from Leumeah High School. On the tennis court Clissold was the New South Wales High School champion in 2007 and a member of the Australian Schoolboys All-Star Team.
"He's fast and moves really well," Schyllander said. "He's a great counter-puncher and will make opponents work very hard when they play him."
Clissold holds an Australian men's top-140 ranking and has racked up many career wins over players with ATP points.
"He's played a lot of international tournaments which has prepared him very well for college tennis," added associate head coach Jonas Piibor. "He's very tough."
With the addition of Clissold and Norway-born Nicholas Bjerke, the Ducks have added a pair of players for the 2009-10 season.
