Won his first career two matches in front of his hometown crowd to reach the round of 32 at the SEC Fall Classic
Reached fourth round of the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships in Knoxville, one of four Vols to do so. He won his second-round match in a third-set tiebreaker over Alex Gornet of Louisville.

Also played ice hockey growing up before focusing on tennis in eighth grade
Diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma -- a type of soft tissue and bone cancer -- in October 2012 after experiencing back pain at a tournament. Missed his senior year of competition after undergoing months of chemotherapy and radiation. He was cleared to head to Knoxville and join the Vols in July 2013.
