Wingate's Flavio Rathsam is this week's SAC Player of the Week

Rock Hill, S.C.----Wingate University sophomore Flavio Rathsam (Sao Paulo, Brazil) has been named the South Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending February 16, 2010.

 

            Rathsam is a perfect 2-0 in singles and doubles action during the Bulldogs’ spring season. Rathsam won his number five singles match against number 17 USC Aiken 6-4, 2-6 and 10-6 (super tie-breaker).

 

            In the same match, he teamed with sophomore Bruno Pudence (Sao Paulo, Brazil) for an 8-6 win in number one doubles action. Rathsam notched a 6-2, 6-1 win in number five singles action against Johnson C. Smith. He added an 8-3 win in number one doubles with Pudence.

 

            Rathsam holds a 16-1 record in his singles career at Wingate. The Bulldogs open South Atlantic Conference action today (Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010) against Lenoir-Rhyne University at the WU Tennis Complex.

University and Truman State (Mo.) University have produced more Academic All-America® honorees during this time period. Wingate’s 43 Academic All-America® honorees (lifetime) is tops among all SAC schools.
