2000-01 — 2001 singles and doubles All-American … First-team All-Pac-10 selection … Recipient of the 2001 ITA “Player to Watch Award” … Finished the year ranked No. 15 in the final ITA singles rankings … Posted a 29-17 overall singles record … UCLA’s No. 1 singles player all season … Reached the round of 16 at the NCAA Championships, falling to eventual champion Matias Boeker … Reached the finals at the ITA Regionals … Won the Sherwood Collegiate Cup, defeating Stanford’s Ryan Haviland … Reached the consolation final of Rolex National Indoors, losing to Georgia’s Bo Hodge …Defeated No. 5 Alex Kim of Stanford to clinch team championship at National Indoors … Was one match shy of reaching the Pac-10 Championship finals, falling to No. 21 K.J. Hippensteel of Stanford …Teamed with Jean-Noel Grinda at No. 1 in doubles …Tandem ranked No. 7 in the final ITA rankings, finishing with a 27-13 overall record … Fell in the first round at the NCAA Championships … The pair captured the ITA Regional title in November … Tandem also won the Rolex National Indoor consolation final in Feb.
1999-00 — Ranked No. 70 in singles and No. 23 in doubles with Jean-Noel Grinda in the final ITA rankings … Pac-10 Freshman of the Year … Second-team All-Pac-10 selection … Posted a 27-4 overall singles record and a 24-3 dual match mark … Dropped only one dual match during the regular-season, falling to Stanford’s Scotty Scott at the National Indoors … Recorded the team’s longest win streak (13 matches) from March 11 to April 28 … In doubles, finished the season with a 21-2 overall record and a 21-1 record in dual matches (w/Grinda), playing primarily in the No. 2 position … Went 2-0 in doubles at the NCAA Regionals … Duo defeated Blue and Crowell of Texas in NCAA round of 16 … Teamed with Grinda to defeat Fitzpatrick and Podbury of Tennessee 8-6 in the NCAA quarterfinals … Fell in singles to Peter Handoyo of Tennessee, 6-0, 6-1.
