Auburn Returns Home to Face Clemson
Friday, 02/22/2013

AUBURN - The 21st-ranked Auburn men's tennis team will play on their home courts in the first time in a month this weekend as they wrap up non-conference play with a pair of matches against Clemson and Georgia Tech.

The Tigers (7-1) will play Clemson (8-1) at 2 p.m. Friday and host Georgia Tech (4-4) at 1 p.m. Sunday at the City of Auburn/Auburn University Yarbrough Tennis Center. Admission is free to all Auburn home tennis matches.

Auburn is led by the nation's No. 1-ranked doubles team, senior Andreas Mies and junior Daniel Cochrane. The duo is 15-1 on the season, including a perfect 8-0 record this spring in dual match play. This weekend will mark their first two matches as the nation's No. 1-ranked team, and they will face their toughest tests yet.

Clemson's top team of Yannick Maden and Dominique Maden is ranked No. 10 in the nation with a 15-3 record on the year. And the top Georgia Tech duo of Juan Spir and Vikram Hundal is ranked No. 3 in the country in the latest ITA rankings.

Auburn is 3-2 all-time against Clemson and 15-22 all-time against Georgia Tech. The last meeting with Clemson came in 2012 at the Blue-Gray Classic in Montgomery, where Auburn pulled out a 4-1 victory. Auburn also earned a 4-1 win over the Yellow Jackets last year in Atlanta in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend.
