Camp General Info -  Baylor Tennis Camp 2004
Camp Objectives

The objective of the Baylor Tennis Camp is for 10-18 year-olds to have fun while learning the basic fundamentals and techniques that are required in the game of tennis. We are sensitive to the needs of each student. Each player will be placed by ability with drills designed to meet each camper's needs. A written evaluation will be given to each camper. Areas covered during the week are: stroke production, singles and doubles strategy, conditioning, sports psychology, goal setting and mental toughness.

Curriculum

A typical day includes six hours of on-court instruction followed by a college-style team competition. No students will be forced to play beyond their limits or go home feeling that they have not played enough tennis.

Sample Schedule:
  • Wake up and get a great breakfast in the cafeteria.
  • Spend the morning on the courts doing drills and getting personal instruction.
  • Classroom instruction. Topics include goal setting, mental toughness, and strength and conditioning.
  • Lunch in the Cafeteria.
  • Court time, drills and instruction.
  • Free Time at the game room, dorm, individual lessons with coaches, or play tennis with other campers.
  • Dinner in the Cafeteria.
  • College Style Team Competition with doubles and singles.
  • Social and recreational activities with the coaches and counselors.

Activities

Our evenings are reserved for fun activities where campers enjoy the opportunity to relax and socialize as a group. Evening events include exhibition night featuring Baylor Tennis players and coaches, games, pizza night, and skit night. More information will be available at check-in. Campers are fully supervised at all times.

Day Camp

Day campers are welcome for any of the camp sessions. Our day begins at 8:30 a.m., ends at 5:00 p.m. and includes lunch. Please drop off and pick up promptly.

Housing

Roommate requests will try to be accomodated but are not guaranteed. If a roommate is not requested, we will assign one of approximately the same age. The dorm is configured with double and triple rooms. All rooms are air-conditioned.
 
Early Arrivals/Late Departures

Baylor University Tennis Camp does not have the facilities or personnel to accommodate campers who arrive the day before or who leave the day after the designated dates of their camp.
