Chestnut Hill, MA - The Boston College women's tennis team defeated Virginia Tech on Friday night to collect their first ACC victory of the season.
Playing in the No. 2 singles position freshman Katarina Gajic picked up her first ACC victory defeating Jessica Brouwer 7-6(2), 6-3. Sophomore Katherine Attwell continued her winning ways at the No. 4 spot, defeating the Hokies Holly Johnson 6-4, 6-4. Junior Brittany Delaney picked up her first singles victory of the season at the No. 6 position 6-0, 6-2.
The Eagles secured their victory by taking two of three matches in the doubles competition to secure the doubles point and the victory.
BC posted wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles positions from Alina Sullivan and Katarina Gajic and Lana Krasnopolsky and Katharine Attwell respectively. Sullivan and Gajic took the the No. 2 spot with an 8-5 victory and Krasnopolsky and Attwell followed up with an 8-4 win to win the point.
The Eagles continue their ACC schedule with a match against Virginia at Virginia on Sunday, March 1.
