BYUH Improves to 5-0 with Sweep

Glendale, AZ—The third-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s tennis team swept their fifth straight match tonight by defeating Montana State-Billings 9-0 in Glendale, Arizona. The Seasiders breezed through the doubles matches and took all six singles matches handily to improve to 5-0 for the season.
Yuan Jia and Elwen Li took the top doubles match 8-1 while Ayako Ikeda and Shawni Porter were winning by the same score at number two doubles. Jenny Chin and Salina Aranda swept number three doubles 8-0.
Aranda also scored a shutout at number six singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win. Li won at number two singles by a 6-1, 60 score and Porter matched that at number four singles. Chin won 6-0, 6-1 at number five while Ikeda won at number three by a 6-2, 6-1 score. Jia took the top singles spot 6-3, 6-1.
The Seasiders won’t play again until February 26th against UH-Hilo in Hilo at 1:00 pm HST.
