Laie, HI—The second-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s tennis cruised to an easy, 7-0 win over Division I SUNY-Albany today in the final regular season match of the year. The Seasiders swept all three doubles matches by 8-0 scores for one point in the DI format and won all six singles matches in straight sets to improve to 27-0 for the year.
Elwen Li and Yuan Jia took an 8-0 win at number one doubles while Annie Hwang and Sophia Simmons were winning 8-0 at number two doubles. Salina Aranda and Sasha Ulbrichtova claimed the third doubles win 8-0 for the Seasiders.
Hwang won 6-0, 6-0 at number one singles while Jia took a 6-2, 6-0 win at number two. Li won 6-0, 6-1 at number three and Aranda won 6-0, 6-3 at the fourth singles spot. Ulbrichtova swept to a 6-2, 6-1 win at fifth singles and Simmons breezed to a 6-1, 6-0 win at the sixth position.
The Seasiders will play next in the NCAA II Tournament.
