NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Cal State Northridge sophomore Nina Jaworowski received Big West Women's Tennis Co-Athletes of the Week honors, the league announced Friday. In four matches last week, Jaworowski went 4-0 in singles play and 3-1 in doubles play, all at the No. 2 position.

Her record now standing 8-5 for the season, Jaworowski finished undefeated in her four matches last week dropping only one set. She defeated Alexandra Kaluza of Southern Miss, 6-1 and 6-1, on Mar. 9, and then bested Paula Alvarez of Alabama-Birmingham, 6-4 and 6-2.

She also picked up a 6-4, 6-0 over Marjorie Ondeck of Memphis and helped Northridge claim a 4-3 victory over Big West rival Pacific by defeating Jolanta Twarowska, 4-6, 6-0 and 6-3, in the decisive match. She is now 3-3 against Big West opponents this season.

In doubles play, Jaworowski teamed with Nigora Sirojiddinova in all four matches, posting a 3-1 record. They averaged 8-1 victories over Southern Miss, UAB and Memphis before falling 8-0 to Twarowska and Sasha Fisher. The duo is 7-6 overall and 3-3 against Big West opponents, all at the No. 2 position.

The award is the first for Jaworowski, who finished her freshman campaign with a 12-5 record, mostly at the fourth and fifth seed. She also finished 12-5 in doubles action with several different teammates.

She shared the award with Cal Poly's Brittany Blalock. The Matadors resume play Friday, Mar. 20 with a match against Columbia at Matador Tennis Complex. First serve is slated for 2 p.m.
