Montana State sophomore Stephanie Jasper was named the Big Sky Conference Tennis Player of the Week for her efforts against Portland State and MSU Billings over the weekend.
Jasper, a Bozeman native, opened the weekend with a straight set 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles over Portland State’s Molly Knox. The victory helped the Bobcats open their 2009 Big Sky Conference season with a 7-0 win over the Vikings.
Jasper also combined at No. 2 doubles with McKenzie Hilmer, where the duo defeated PSU’s Alyssa Ferry and Anya Dackin, 8-4.
On Saturday, Jasper downed Ling Chan of MSU Billings 6-1, 6-3. She also combined with Missy Harris at No. 1 doubles, where the twosome defeated the Yellowjacket’s Chan and Bekah Carlson, 8-0.
Jasper is currently 3-1 at No. 1 singles and 2-2 in doubles action.
