WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 28, 2009) – Rollins downed Lake Superior State 9-0 in nonconference action Saturday, the Tars second straight shutout and third of the season.
Rollins improves to 5-2 on the year while dropping the Lakers to 4-1.
As has been the case all season, Rollins was dominating in doubles, earning each of the three points. Adrian Tan and Jeff Morris teamed to down Razvan Mag and Pawel Wegrzyn 8-2 in the No. 1 match with Neil Clausen and Bill Rockwood blanking Craig Baas and Robert Nelson 8-0 in the No. 2 slot. Nick Rowlands and Gustavo Carvalho kept the ball rolling with an 8-1 win in the No. 3 position over Steve Demps and Brandon Clayton.
Adrian Tan won the top flight singles match 6-0, 6-1 over Mag while 27th ranked Clausen downed Wegrzyn 6-0, ret. in the No. 2 position. Jeff Morris, ranked 35th in the nation, bounced Clayton 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3 and Gustavo Carvalho downed Nelson 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4.
Rockwood was a 6-3, 6-0 winner over Baas at No. 5 and Andrew Johnson shutout Demps 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
Rollins will be back on the courts on Monday, Mar. 2 hosting eighth ranked Concordia (N.Y.) at the Bert Martin Tennis Complex. Competition is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
