Troy falls to South Carolina

COLUMBIA, SC - The Troy men's tennis program dropped their season-opening match on the road to 52nd-ranked South Carolina 7-0 Saturday afternoon.

Benjamin Chomette put up a fight at number three singles, falling in three sets to South Carolina's Ivan Machado 6-1, 5-7, 6-1.

In other singles action, Branko Weber fell to South Carolina's Diego Cubas 6-2, 6-2; while Aurelien Tave fell to South Carolina's Aurelien Tave 7-6 (3), 6-3.  At the number four spot, Mario Silva fell to South Carolina's Johannes Pulsfort 6-4, 6-3; while Xavier Masson fell to Ivan Cressoni 6-2, 6-1 and Guilherme Sahadi fell to South Carolina's David Wolf 6-2, 6-1.

In double action, the team of Weber and Masson fell to Cubs and Machado; while the team of Tave and Chomette fell to Joe Veeder and Campos at number two by idential 8-3 scores.  At number three doubles, Maucher and Silva fell to Cressoni and Wolff 8-6.

The Trojans return to action next Saturday on the road against the University of Alabama.  Match time is set for 10 am in Tuscaloosa.
