Bruin Players Advance to Semifinals at Pac-12 Championships

Ojai, Calif. - The UCLA women's tennis team had two singles players and a doubles team win quarterfinal matches on Friday to reach Saturday's semifinals at the Pac-12 Championships in Ojai, Calif.
 
Freshman Kyle McPhillips picked up a big upset in the Championship singles draw on Friday, as she took out top-seeded Zsofia Susanyi of Cal, who retired due to injury. McPhillips, who is seeded eighth, was leading 6-4, 3-2 at the time of Susanyi's retirement. Awaiting McPhillips in the semifinals is sixth-seeded Kristie Ahn of Stanford. The two players will square off at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Libbey Park.
 
In the Pac-12 Invitational draw, sophomore Skylar Morton booked her spot in the semifinals following a 6-2, 1-6, (10-8) win over Stanford's Ellie Yates. The unseeded Morton will take on sixth-seeded Kaitlyn Christian of USC on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
 
UCLA's Courtney Dolehide and Pamela Montez advanced to the semifinals of the Championship doubles draw by winning a pair of matches on Friday. Dolehide and Montez downed Washington's Elianne Douglas Miron and Riko Shimizu, 8-2 in the first round. They followed that up with an 8-6 victory over ASU's second-seeded Jaqueline Cako and Nicole Smith. Next up is a meeting with third-seeded Lynn Chi and Anett Schutting of Cal on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
