CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Three University of Miami men’s tennis players participated in the second round of the singles qualifying draw Thursday at the 2012 USTA/ITA Regional Championships in Tallahassee, Fla.

After earning first-round byes, Hurricanes Jack Murphy, Henrique Tsukamoto and Mark Schanerman each played an afternoon match in the event.

Murphy was defeated by Andrew Dromsky of Georgia Southern, 6-1, 6-0 and Tsukamoto lost 7-6 (2), 6-1 to Sofiane Chevallier of Georgia State. Schanerman took his match into three sets, falling 7-5, 0-6, 6-4 to FAU’s Chris Janssen.

The singles main draw of the USTA/ITA Regional Championships begins tomorrow in Tallahassee. Wilfredo Gonzalez and Diego Soto each earned a spot in the seeding, being listed as a 9-16 seed. The Friday schedule is below.
