Texas lands three in ITA preseason singles rankings

Freshman Aeriel Ellis leads the Longhorns’ contingent at No. 22 after going 17-5 in the fall season.

 

                AUSTIN, Texas – Texas landed three student-athletes in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) preseason singles rankings and added a doubles tandem in the preseason doubles rankings.

                Freshman Aeriel Ellis led Longhorns’ contingent at No. 22 after turning in a sterling initial semester of college tennis.  Ellis totaled a 17-5 singles record, captured the main singles draw at the ITA Texas Regional Championships and earned a berth in the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships.

                Sophomore Krista Damico also enjoyed a productive fall season and, as a result, is ranked at a  career-best No. 27 in the ITA preseason singles rankings.  Senior Vanja Corovic comes in at No. 59 in the ITA singles rankings.  Damico and UT junior Amanda Craddock are ranked No. 27 in the ITA preseason doubles rankings.  As a team, Texas ranks No. 31 in the ITA preseason rankings.

                Texas resumes competition on Jan. 15 at the Georgia Invitational.  The Longhorns open the dual-match season on Jan. 23 against Rice.
