Tennis Hits the Road for Match at Clemson
Thursday, 02/14/2013

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men’s tennis team (7-2) travels to Clemson, S.C. on Friday to take on the Clemson Tigers (6-1) at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center. Matches will begin at 1:30 p.m. CT.

The Crimson Tide last played on Wednesday, Feb. 6, where it split a doubleheader, beating UAB, 5-2, before being edged out by Samford, 4-3. Friday’s match will be Alabama’s second true road contest of the season and also its second against an Atlantic Coast Conference opponent as the Tide took on Wake Forest last month.

Alabama enters Friday’s match with two players ranked nationally in singles as freshman Becker O’Shaughnessey earned the No. 86 spot in the latest installment of ITA rankings while senior Jarryd Botha came in at No. 122. Clemson’s top doubles team of brothers Yannick and Dominique Maden is currently 10th in the nation. Yannick Maden also holds a national ranking of No. 83 in singles.

The Tigers won their first five matches of the 2013 season before dropping their lone loss to sixth-ranked Georgia, 6-0, in Athens. The Tide last played Clemson in 2012 at the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic in Montgomery, by a score of 4-2. The win moved Alabama to 9-3 all-time against the Tigers.

Live scoring will be available for Friday’s match and can be accessed on the men’s tennis schedule page on RollTide.com.
