The Short Story: Junior Alexis Heugas (pictured, main) led VCU to its sixth win of the season with a 5-2 victory over the visiting Ospreys of North Florida on Homecoming Weekend. Heugas and freshman Dylan McCloskey (pictured, right) teamed to upset the 20th-ranked doubles duo from North Florida as the Rams claimed the doubles point. Heugas then grabbed a quick victory at the top singles spot to secure the win for the Black & Gold.
How It Happened:
VCU jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead with wins at all three doubles spots, led by Heugas and McCloskey's upset of the 20th-ranked duo from North Florida.
Senior Max Wennakoski kept things rolling in VCU's favor with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Daniel Sotomarino to push the Rams to a 2-0 cushion.
Freshman Michal Voscek and Heugas secured the win for the Black & Gold with wins at the fourth and first spots respectively.
