XU Men Earn Third Straight Win
Tuesday, 03/27/2012

CINCINNATI -- The Xavier men's tennis team picked up its third straight victory and improved to 8-8 on the season with a 6-1 win at Northern Kentucky Wednesday evening.

"NKU was a very good opponent today," said Xavier head coach Eric Toth. "We've stressed how our effort has to be exceptional and not only with our A-10 matches, but also with the tough non-conference matches left on our schedule. The effort overall today was good. Anything less out of our guys would have gotten us into some trouble today."

Xavier took five of the six singles matches with Jimmy Roebker posting a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 1. Sophomore Mesa Mei earned a tough 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 2, Brandon MacDonald took home a win at No. 3, Marc Pretorius took the No. 5 match, and freshman Freddy Abunku earned a three-set win at No. 6.

Xavier hosts Wright State March 28 in the first match of a five-match home stand.
