Crimson Tide Currently 6-1 on the Season

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 20 Alabama men’s tennis team (6-1) travels to Bloomington to take on the No. 58 Indiana Hoosiers (5-6) on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 1:00 p.m. (CST). The match will take place at the IU Tennis Center.

“Indiana has a talented young team, and it will be a challenge playing them on the road,” said head coach Billy Pate. “Our seniors really did a great job of stepping up at Clemson last weekend, but we’ll need a total team effort to continue building on the success we’ve had.”

Alabama is coming off a road victory last weekend, picking up a 5-2 win over No. 61 Clemson. The Tide won the doubles point, and senior Billy Mertz posted a win at the No. 4 singles spot to clinch the victory. The match was only the second true road match for Alabama, the other being a tough 4-3 loss in Malibu to Pepperdine in the National Indoor Qualifier.

The Hoosiers return home to host the Tide after dropping a 6-1 decision to No. 31 Kentucky in Lexington. Indiana freshman Jeremy Langer collected the only win for the Hoosiers against the Wildcats. Indiana opened up the season with four straight wins, but has since dropped six of its last seven matches. Redshirt sophomore Lachlan Ferguson is currently ranked No. 116 in the nation. Indiana is 4-1 at home this season.

The series between Alabama and the Hoosiers is tied 6-6, with the Tide winning in Tuscaloosa last season by a score of 6-1.
