ASU Tennis Teams Fall to Western Kentucky
Saturday, 03/17/2012

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State tennis teams fell 7-0 and 6-1 to Western Kentucky today at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Complex in Montgomery, Ala.

“We're getting better as a team,” head coach Anuk Christiansz said. “We have a long, long way to go before we get to where we need to be though. We're working hard and we're getting there, but we need to compete in more matches. Also I'm very excited about the future of this program.”

The Lady Hornets (0-8) led by Nathalie Lorenco and Mechelle Barton played with poise and confidence but couldn't hold the Hilltoppers off in doubles competition.

ASU's Bobby Brand and Lex Pierre fought hard in their doubles match, but Western Kentucky ones came up with the 8-5 victory.

In singles, the Hilltoppers swept the Lady Hornets 4-0. The men were led by Stefan Vojnic. Vojnic defeated Andrew Fish in three sets 4-6, 6-4, 7-6.

The Alabama State tennis teams will be back in action on Saturday, March 10 at 1 p.m. as they face intra-state rivals Alabama A&M at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Complex on the campus of ASU.
