Walston and Yassine Fall in Southern Regional Doubles Finals
Tuesday, 10/27/2009

NEW ORLEANS – Following a grueling win in the semifinals, Alabama men’s tennis senior Houssam Yassine and junior Trey Walston fell in the finals round of the 2009 Wilson/ITA Southern Regional Championships on Sunday.

“Trey and Houssam played a great match this morning against a good Mississippi State team,” said assistant coach Bo Hodge. “They have gotten better with each match they have played. They came up a little short this afternoon, but Auburn played extremely well. This was a good tournament for Trey and Houssam. They now realize they can play with some of the best players in the country, and I think they are making a step in the right direction.”

The Crimson Tide duo outlasted Mississippi State sophomores George Coupland and Artem Ilyushin 9-8(3) before dropping an 8-3 decision to Auburn junior Tim Puetz and sophomore Alex Stamchev in the final match.

Alabama returns to the court when it hosts the Crimson Tide Fall Championships Oct. 30 through Nov. 1 at the University of Alabama Tennis Stadium.
