• Boise State is headed to the 2016 ITA Kick-Off Weekend at Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, where the Broncos will face No. 65 San Francisco in the opening round on Saturday. Depending on the outcome of the opening round, Boise State will then meet either No. 5 Texas A&M or No. 68 and Mountain West rival Fresno State on Sunday, at a time to be determined. 
• The action will take place at Texas A&M’s Mitchell Tennis Center.

• Kyle Butters: The freshman from New Zealand is 7-3 in singles matches and 3-2 in doubles.
• Brian Foley: The senior is 5-3 in singles and 3-2 in doubles.
• Tillman Haynes: The freshman from Texas is 5-2 in singles and 4-1 in doubles.
• Abe Hewko: The junior is currently 6-3 singles and 7-1 in doubles competition.
• Toby Mitchell: The senior from England has a 7-3 singles record and 3-2 doubles mark.
• Pedro Platzeck: The freshman from Brazil joined the team during the winter break and is currently 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles.
• Lewis Roskilly: The sophomore from England is 5-4 in singles and 5-2 in doubles.
• Note: The players’ records are for the 2015-16 year.

• Boise State opened the 2016 campaign in dominating fashion this past weekend tallying three victories over ITA Mountain Region opponents Grand Canyon (W 5-2), Montana State (W 7-0) and Southern Utah (7-0).
• The Broncos officially debuted four freshmen last weekend in Kyle Butters, Tillman Haynes, Pedro Platzeck and Greg Wischer ... they went a combined 9-1 in singles and 9-0 in doubles.

• Greg Patton is in his 20th season as head coach at Boise State where he is 426-166 overall in team duals, his career mark is 777-359 in 36 years.
• His 777 career wins ranks him first among active coaches ... the Broncos’ win over Southern Utah (Jan. 19) moved him into fourth-place all-time on the NCAA career list. 

• The Broncos have never lost (11-0) at the Mountain West Tournament since joining the league for the 2011-12 campaign and are the four-time defending champions.
• Overall Boise State has won 16 conference titles, 14 under coach Patton’s leadership.

• Boise State advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2015 for the 18th time in school history and the 10th time in the last 11 years.

• Boise State’s head men’s tennis coach Greg Patton was inducted into the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Intermountain Region Hall of Fame in December. This is just one more of many honors that Patton has garnered throughout his career and it is the fourth hall of fame that he has been inducted into. The list of halls Patton is a member of is: Boise State Athletics’ (2001), UC Irvine Athletics’ (2000), the Idaho Tennis Association’s (2013) and the USTA Intermountain Region’s (2015). 

• The Boise State men’s tennis team will start the 2016 campaign ranked 59th nationally by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in its first poll released this afternoon.
• Boise State remained in 59th place following the opening weekend of the season. 

• Boise State is one of four Mountain West teams listed in the ITA rankings Jan. 19.
• Leading the group is San Diego State at No. 39, followed by No. 59 (tied) Boise State, No. 62 New Mexico and No. 68 Fresno State.
• A fifth MW member Utah State was listed at No. 70 in the first rankings released Jan. 5.

• Bronco alumni Clancy Shields and Luke Shields both have had their teams in the nationally rankings to start the season.
• Clancy Shields in his third season as the head coach at Utah State had his Aggies ranked 70th in the first national poll on Jan. 5, they are not currently ranked.
• Luke Shields, the older of the two brothers, left his position as the associate head coach at Boise State in September to take over as the head coach at Fresno State. His Bulldogs enter the season ranked 67th in the nation and are now at 68.
• Boise State plays at Utah State on March 19th and will host Fresno State on April 8th.

• The Broncos could face 16 teams currently ranked nationally by the ITA.
• In addition to the three Mountain West teams currently in the ITA rankings there are 13 other schools on the Broncos’ schedule that are among those ranked.
• Boise State will face: No. 14 Virginia Tech (Jan. 30), No. 48 UC Santa Barbara (March 23), No. 49 Oregon (Feb. 21), No. 50 Indiana (Feb. 20), No. 54 Cal Poly (March 26), No. 65 San Francisco (Jan. 23) and No. 70 UC Irvine (March 3).
• The Broncos could also face the following schools in tournaments: No. 5 Texas A&M (Jan. 24) at College Station, as well as the five schools in the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic (Feb. 26-27) No. 13 South Florida, No. 28 Oklahoma State, No. 34 Princeton, No. 59 (tied) Auburn and No. 63 Alabama. 
• Other schools on the schedule that have been ranked include: Utah State.

• Boise State seniors Thomas Tenreiro and Toby Mitchell open the 2016 team dual season ranked in the ITA Intermountain Region for singles.
• Tenreiro starts the season ranked fourth regionally, while Mitchell begins the year ranked 14th.

• Boise State has two of its doubles teams ranked regionally to begin the 2016 team season.
• Ranked fourth in the ITA Intermountain Region is the duo of Thomas Tenreiro and Lewis Roskilly, while the tandem of Kyle Butters and Toby Mitchell are sixth.
