College Tennis Teams - Boise State University - Team News - Boise State Hits the Road for Final Regular Season Trip

The Broncos (5-20, 1-3 MW) are on the road for the final time during the regular season this weekend when they travel to Reno, Nev., for a 1 p.m. (Mountain) start versus the Nevada Wolf Pack (7-9, 2-2 MW). That will be followed by an encounter at Fresno State (13-11, 3-1 MW) at 7 p.m. (Mountain) in Fresno, Calif., on Saturday.
Coach Patton is looking for his 800th career win as a collegiate coach needing one victory to reach the milestone.

RECENTLY FOR THE BRONCOS

The Broncos concluded a six-match homestand this past weekend going 1-2 falling to New Mexico 4-1 and Air Force 4-2 before bouncing back to defeat Idaho 4-3.
Kyle Butters led Boise State during the week going 2-1 in singles and 3-0 in doubles. Jack Heslin went 2-0 in singles, while Brian Tran was 2-1.
In the win versus the Vandals on April 9 the Broncos won the doubles point and recorded singles victories by Butters, Heslin and Pedro Platzeck who earned the decisive win that clinched the team victory.

Leading the way in singles for Boise State are Jack Heslin (So., Auckland, New Zealand) who is 18-12 overall and 11-9 in duals splitting time primarily between courts two and three ... Brian Tran (Fr., Greystanes, Australia) is 14-10 on the year and 11-9 in duals playing mostly at No. 2 and 3 singles ... Kyle Butters (So., Wanganui, New Zealand) has played No. 1 singles in nearly every match this year going 6-10 in duals to go with a 12-14 overall record this year.
Leading the team in doubles play is the tandem of Kyle Butters and Jack Heslin who are 12-8 together ... but the lineup has fluctuated lately with Pedro Platzeck and Brian Tran (4-7 overall) playing at No. 1, while Kyle Butters and Ryland McDermott (5-2) have played together with Heslin paired with Greg Wischer (1-3).
The Broncos have one of the youngest rosters in the NCAA featuring five sophomores and three freshmen, no upperclassmen.

Nevada enters the match at 7-9 overall and 2-2 in conference play ... last weekend Nevada fell 4-1 at UNLV, before bouncing back to defeat San Diego State 4-3 on the road.
Julien Evrard has played most of the team dual season t No. 1 singles where he is 4-11 to go with a 13-18 overall record on the year ... four players have played at No. 2 singles led by Robert Margitfalvi who is 3-3 at both the second and third positions, he is 12-12 on the year.
Augustin Delahodde and Julien Evrard are the top doubles tandem for the Wolf Pack going 5-6 at No. 1 doubles.

Fresno State is coached by Boise State alumnus Luke Shields .... the Bulldogs enter the weekend 13-11 overall and 3-1 in MW play ... they are coming off a 4-0 win at San Diego State and a 4-1 loss at UNLV last week.
No individual stats are available for the Bulldogs.

The Broncos will close the regular season next Saturday (April 22) at home against the Utah State Aggies at 6 p.m.

The 2017 Mountain West Conference Men’s Tennis Championship Tournament will be held April 28-30 at Boise State’s Appleton Tennis Center.
This is the first time that the league’s championship event has been in Boise.
The Broncos have won four MW titles (2012-15) in their first five years as members of the conference.

Greg Patton enters his 21st season at Boise State where he has posted a 448-194 record while winning 14 conference championships in three different conferences.
This is the General’s 37th season as a collegiate head coach ... Patton has put together an impressive 799-387 record, which currently ranks him first nationally for most wins by an active NCAA Division I men’s tennis coach and fourth all-time.
Since returning to Boise State in 2003, Patton guided the team to four-consecutive Mountain West Tournament Championships (2012-15) during its first four seasons in the conference. He also earned Western Athletic Conference titles in four of nine seasons (2003, 2005-07), as well as a WAC regular-season championship in 2009.
