Hilo, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s tennis team had a much tougher time today but finally prevailed over UH-Hilo for the second day in a row with a 5-4 win. Yesterday the Seasiders won the match 8-1 but several of the contests were close. Today the Vulcans rebounded after losing all three doubles matches to win four of the six singles contests.
The match came down to the number four singles position. With the teams tied at 4-4, BYU-Hawaii’s C.J. Adamson secured the final point with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Justin Dugan. Yesterday the same two players had to go to a super-tiebreaker before Adamson prevailed.
Rong Ma scored a 6-4, 6-4 win at the number one singles position for the Seasiders and teamed with Agnel Peter for an 8-6 win at the top doubles spot. Adamson and Diego Miranda earned an 8-6 win at the second doubles position and Andy Xing and Taylor De Hoyas took an 8-3 win at number three doubles for BYU-Hawaii.
The Seasiders’ next action will be Thursday against Northwestern College (MN) in Laie at 9:00 am.
