CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Southern women’s tennis team lost just one singles match and won the doubles point in a 6-1 victory over Liberty University Saturday afternoon at CSU Tennis Complex.
The Buccaneers (4-0, 2-0 Big South Conference) took their second-straight conference match and remained undefeated on the season, and the Lady Flames (1-6, 0-1 BSC) dropped their sixth-straight outing.
Olga Makhova defeated Jordan Jenkins 7-6 (10-6), 7-5 in the first singles match. Andrea Schutte, Brooke Pletcher, Susita Das and Angie Torres also all posted singles wins to propel CSU to the huge victory.
Schutte defeated Fabiana Gouveia 6-0, 6-2 from the No. 3 position, Pletcher won over Carol Lobel 7-6 (7-2), 6-0 at the No. 4 spot and Das defeated Brittany Thomas 6-2, 6-3 in her first singles match of the season. Torres won in a forfeit by Liberty at No. 6.
Marija Dzakovic was the lone Buccaneer to fall in singles action as she lost to Nadia Solomon-Burgess 6-0, 6-3 in No. 2 singles.
Jenkins/Solomon-Burgess defeated Torres/Schutte 8-7 (7-4) at No. 1 doubles, but the Buccaneers won the doubles point after Dzakovic/Makhova took down Thomas/Lobel 8-3 and Pletcher/Das won by default.
