Gille falls at D’Novo/ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. (Oct. 7, 2009) ETSU men’s tennis sophomore Sander Gille (Kuringen, Belguim) could not overcome a tough draw as the second year Buccanneer fell to UCLA’s Kallim Stewart during first round play of the qualfiying singles draw at the 2009 D’Novo/ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.
 
After dropping the first set 6-4, the 2008 Atlantic Sun Conference Second Team member, bounced back to take the second frame 6-4. After holding server at 4-4, the Kuringen, Belguim native could not keep his momentum as the No. 9-seeded Stewart held his return for a 5-4 lead. With the lead the Bruin senior then served out the match at 6-4.
 
Gille second-round consolation match against Stanford sophomore Ryan Thacher was cancelled due to inclement weather.
