Former 'Noles Continue To Shine On Tour
Monday, 11/25/2013

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The pairing of Francesca Segarelli and Daniela Schippers won the main doubles draw of the $10,000 Quintana Roo ITF Pro Circuit event held from Oct. 21-27, 2013. This marked the second ITF title of 2013 for the former Seminole.

Segarelli and Schippers won their opening match, 6-0, 6-0, and cruised to the title, only dropping one set for the entire tournament. In the final, they defeated the Mexican duo of Constanza Gorches and Jessica Hinojosa Gomez in a tough back-and-forth match by a score of 7-5, 7-6 (2).

"This season has been interesting," said Segarelli. "As soon as I finished at FSU, my first results were great, but then they became not so great. In general, I am improving a lot and getting back to the mentality of playing professional tennis."

Segarelli also won a $10,000 doubles tournament at Quintana Roo earlier this year held on May 27 - June 2. She teamed up with USA's Danielle Mills and took the championship without dropping a set. The former `Nole has been playing excellent tennis as of late, reaching the semifinals of two other doubles tournaments in the past two months.

"FSU has helped me in every single way to be a professional tennis player. Especially how to fight every single point and be mentally strong," added Segarelli. "In my most recent match, I kept reminding myself about how (FSU head coach Jennifer Hyde) always told me to keep the energy up, be aggressive and make things happen."

Segarelli continues with her ITF Pro Circuit season with another tournament at Quintana Roo this week from Oct. 28 - Nov. 3. For more information on the ITF Pro Circuit, check out itftennis.com.
