MIAA Honors Sophomore Carli Capestany

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Hope’s Carli Capestany its Player of the Week in women’s tennis. A sophomore from Hudsonville (Hudsonville HS), Capestany posted a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles and an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles as the Flying Dutch took over sole possession of first place in the MIAA Saturday with an 8-1 victory over Saint Mary’s. She also had a three-set loss in singles against Division II Grand Valley State University, losing the deciding set 10-7. She was an All-MIAA first team honoree as a freshman. Capestany is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
