CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—The LSU women’s tennis team picked up three singles wins Sunday at the UVA Winter Invitational hosted by Virginia at the Boyd Tinsley Courts in Charlottesville, Va.

 

Senior Nicole Kantor ousted Utah’s Paige Miles 7-6(5), 6-0 as she brought her record to 9-4.

 

Newcomers Kaitlin Burns and Keri Frankenberger made impressive showings as Burns defeated Evgenia Kryuchkova of Utah in a hotly-contested three-set duel 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. Frankenberger dominated Erin Monson 6-2, 6-2.

 

In doubles, Lady Tigers Whitney Wolf and Frankenberger continued their outstanding performance by capturing another doubles win as they knocked off Utah’s Miles and Anastasia Putilina.

 

“I was really proud of the way the girls played today,” said head coach Tony Minnis. “They played really hard and gave a lot of effort, and we’re looking forward to competing again tomorrow.”

 

The Lady Tigers will begin the final day of the invitational Monday at 8 a.m. CST.
