SALT LAKE CITY – LSU senior Whitney Wolf, the no. 52 ranked player in the nation, advanced to the A singles final with a win over Utah’s Danielle Flores 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 at the Utah Fall Invitational inside the Eccles Tennis Center on the Utah campus Saturday.
With the win, Wolf has now won eight of her last nine singles matches. She will take on Utah’s Sarah Pham in the singles final on Sunday.
Wolf teamed up with Keri Frankenberger to reach the doubles main draw final. The pair defeated Manuela and Marlena Pietzuch of Boise State 8-5 in the quarterfinal, and then they took out Utah’s Pham and Lucia Kovarcikova 8-6 in the semifinal. Wolf and Frankenberger will face Utah’s Flores and Natasha Smith in the final.
Kaitlin Burns reached the A consolation semifinal defeating Utah’s Lucia Kovacikova 7-6, 6-0, 12-10. She will play Boise State's Sonia Klamczynska in the consolation final.
“We had a good day up and down,” LSU head coach Tony Minnis said. “We have been improving and it’s starting to show into the end of the fall season. We just need to finish it off.”
