LSU TENNIS CONCLUDES COMPETITION AT LONGHORN INVITATIONAL
Sunday, 09/23/2012

AUSTIN, Texas – The Lady Tigers completed their season-opening competition Saturday at the Longhorn Invitational at Texas' Pennick-Allison Tennis Center in Austin, Texas.

Freshman Ella Taylor advanced to the semifinals in her flight and concluded her competition with a 6-2, 6-3 defeat against West Virginia's Emily Mathis.

Caroline Hudson, Mary Jeremiah and Ariel Morton fell to their competitors in the quarterfinal round and entered the consolation semifinals of their flights, but all were unable to advance.

"Our matches today provided some excellent dialogue," head coach Julia S. Sell said. "Besides fitness, one of our main goals this semester is to maintain championship intensity. We found ourselves getting mentally fatigued today, which really exposed our weaknesses and cost us some wins. We walked away with a clear cut picture of where our games are and the improvements we need to make."
