HOUSTON - LSU women's tennis will see action in the final rounds of flights in both singles and doubles.
 
Senior Kaitlin Burns advanced to the final round of singles Flight 2 after a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Stephanie Nguyen of Rice.  She will take on another Rice competitor Sunday as she battles Kim Anicete for the win.
 
Newcomer Caroline Hudson, competing alongside Klaudia Gawlik of McNeese, will compete in the final round of doubles Flight 3 as they take on Celia Fraser and Gabriella Jansson of UH. The pair defeated Katy Collins and Bérénice Van den Bergh of Texas State 8-3 in the second round.
 
"This was a great day for Tiger tennis, head coach Julia S. Sell said. "We made a lot of positive strides in our singles play and really started to feel confident in our game styles. Kaitlin Burns picked up another quality win today over a very good player. She is really emerging as a leader on our team because of her strong work ethic and attitude."
 
Mary Jeremiah, Ariel Morton, and Ella Taylor all took home wins in Saturday's singles matches. After a victory in the first set and a loss in the second, Jeremiah battled back to take the match from Anna Mamalat of Texas A&M 6-4, 2-9, 11-9. Morton and Taylor made quick wins over competitors from Texas State, as Morton defeated Gabriela Rojas 6-3, 6-2; and Taylor notched a 6-3, 6-1 score against Mariana Perez.
 
Doubles play is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. CT with singles play to follow at the Jake Hess Tennis Stadium. All remaining matches will be played Sunday to wrap up the tournament.
