 Three Lobos Advance to Round of 32 at ITA Regional

LAS VEGAS, Nev.— Three University of New Mexico men’s tennis players advanced to the main draw round of 32 at the ITA Mountain Regional Wednesday. Carl Ho, Jadon Phillips and Ben Dunbar made it through two rounds while a trio of Lobo pairs will play in the round of 32 in doubles competition.

Ho, Phillips and Dunbar all received first round byes. Ho defeated BYU’s Michael Eras 6-3, 7-5. Phillips and Dunbar also picked up two-set wins with Phillips downing Nikita Ryashchenko 6-2, 6-2, and Dunbar topping Mylse Perkins of Montana State, 6-0, 6-0.

Conor Berg, Joe Wood and Phil Anderson notched wins in the round of 128, but all three were eliminated in the round of 64. Berg, Wood, Anderson and Matt Neeld will continue action in singles consolation rounds.

The only Lobos to see doubles action today were Berg and Wood, who defeated Boise State’s Michael Gilliland and Filipp Pogostkin, 8-6.

The event continues on Thursday, Oct. 22, with doubles matches starting at 9 a.m. MT.
