SAN MARCOS, Texas - The Nicholls State University women's tennis team lost another close match in conference play, losing 4-3 to Texas State on Saturday afternoon.

The Colonels (2-3, 0-2 Southland) won the doubles point as junior Florina Nosca and Tatiana Denezhkina won 8-4 at No. 1 doubles and juniorMelissa Harrison and senior Sanja Stanojcic secured the point with an 8-3 victory at the No.3 spot.

However, Nicholls did not have similar success in singles, falling in all but two matches. Getting wins in singles were junior Natalia Zamora at No. 2 with a 6-3, 7-6 victory, while Stanojcic prevailed at No. 4, 6-1, 7-5.

Nicholls suffered some hard fought losses at No. 1 and No. 3 singles with Nosca falling 3-6, 6-3, 6-1, while sophomore Sumana Kalyanasundarmlost 6-4, 6-7, 6-2.

Nicholls will square off against Texas-Arlington tomorrow at 11 a.m. in Arlington, Texas.
