Final Stats
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Nicholls State University women's tennis team shutdown the UTSA Roadrunners 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center.
The Colonels (13-8, 4-7 Southland) shutdown their archenemies, not losing a single doubles or singles match, and in the process becoming one step closer to possible gaining a birth at the Southland Conference Tournament.
In the match, the duo of juniors Florina Nosca and Natalia Zamora set the tone with an 8-5 win at No.1 doubles, and the trickle down effect occurred with the team getting the shutout victory.
All singles matches were decided in two sets with exception of two, and gutting it out for victory in three sets were sophomore Tatiana Denezhkina and junior Melissa Harrison. Denezhkina got a 6-7, 6-2, 10-3 victory over Caroline Dedering at No.3 singles, while Harrison prevailed 6-7, 6-4, 10-8 over Sarah Adams at the No. 6 spot.
Nicholls will close out the regular season at Incarnate Word tomorrow. First serve is set for11 a.m.
