CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina men’s tennis team has received the No. 13 seed in the 2015 NCAA Tournament and will serve as a regional host for first- and second-round action Friday and Saturday, May 8-9, the NCAA announced Tuesday.

The Tar Heels (21-10) will face William & Mary (16-12) at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 8 in opening-round play at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. UNC will play host to another first-round match between Mississippi State (19-7) and Denver (18-8) at 10 a.m. the same day. Winners of both matches will face off on Saturday, May 9 at 3 p.m. with a trip to the NCAA Final 16 at stake. The Round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals and final will be held May 14-19 in Waco, Texas with Baylor University as host.

This marks the seventh time UNC has been tabbed as a regional host under the guidance of head coach Sam Paul.  Carolina also hosted regionals in 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2012 and 2014. The Tar Heels have made the NCAA tournament in the team format every year since 1992 except for 1999 and 2013. In 2014, UNC advanced to the quarterfinal round for the second time since the NCAA went to a team format in 1976, the last time being 1992.

Tournament matches will be regulation dual matches with three (3) eight-game, pro-set doubles played for one team point, followed by six (6) singles matches, each valued at one team point, played in best-of-three sets. Regular scoring will be used and a 12-point tiebreaker will be played at seven-games-all in doubles and at six-games-all in singles.

Tickets for the event are $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors. Children 6 & under are free. Gates will open one hour prior to play on Friday.

UNC will also be hosting NCAA Tournament matches for women on Saturday and Sunday of the weekend.  The UNC women earned the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
