A two-time All-ACC selection, Kissell is just the second player in program history to be selected to the singles championship twice in a career, joining Kylie Hunt (1994-95) as the only other individual to accomplish the feat.
Last season, Kissell became the second player in program history to advance in the tournament, after defeating California’s 48th-ranked Tayler Davis, 7-5, 6-1, in the first round. Sanaa Bhambri was the first to advance in the tournament in 2011.
Thus far in 2012-13, the Hostetter, Pa., native has compiled an 18-11 overall record, which includes seven victories over ranked opponents and a 14-5 mark in dual singles matches – all of which were played at the No. 1 spot in the Wolfpack’s singles lineup.
With her 6-3, 6-3 win over Georgia Tech's 86th-ranked Elizabeth Kilborn on April 21, Kissell won her 49th-career spring singles match and passed Blair Sutton (1995-98) for third on the program's all-time list.
