Kissell Earns Second All-ACC Academic Team Nod
Monday, 08/12/2013

GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the second straight season, NC State women’s tennis standout Joelle Kissell was named to the 2013 Women’s Tennis All-ACC Academic Team, announced Tuesday afternoon by the league office.

For consideration to the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must have achieved a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the previous semester and maintained a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 during her academic career.

Kissell becomes the first player since Niels Barringer (2008-09) to be named to the all-academic team in back-to-back seasons.

A rising senior and communication major, Kissell became just the second player in program history to be selected to the NCAA Singles Championship twice, and the third to be named to the All-ACC team two times.

The Hostetter, Pa., native concluded her 2013 campaign with an 18-13 overall record and was ranked 58th in the final ITA singles poll. She is tied for third place in NC State history with 49-career spring singles wins and will open the 2014 season just 10 victories behind the school’s all-time leader, Jenny Sell, who won 59 matches from 1989-1992.
