San Diego State Women's Tennis Faces Louisville at Home
SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's tennis team will look for its third straight victory as they play host to Louisville this Thursday. The match is set for a 2 p.m. PT start at the Aztec Tennis Center.
The Aztecs (4-8) recorded their fourth win of the season defeating UC Santa Barbara, 6-1, last Friday at home. Doubles play was strong as Alicia Aquilar and Juila Wais defeated UCSB's Erica Cano and Sofia Novak, 8-6. Emma Cioffi and Laura Antonana Iriarte also came out on top with an 8-4 victory.
Sierra Ellison has been successful as of late in singles play, winning her last three matches. Against the Gauchos, she defeated Natalia Lozano at No. 5 singles by the score of 6-3, 6-3. Wais, Emma Cioffi, and Kristin Buth, meanwhile, have each won two straight and won their contests at Nos. 1, 2, and 6, respectively, against Santa Barbara. Antonana Iriarte also emerged with a hard-fought win of 6-0, 3-6, 14-12 at number three singles.
This is the first match against Louisville in the history of the series. The Cardinals (5-7) are coming off a 4-0 defeat against North Texas on Sunday for their second straight loss.
The Aztecs will play host to Mountain West foe Colorado State on Saturday, March 24, at noon PT. All home contests at Aztec Tennis Center are free and open to the public.
