Texas State Women Win Their Fourth Straight Match With A 6-1 Victory At Southeastern Louisiana

Hammond, La. – The Texas State women’s tennis team won its fourth straight Southland Conference dual match with a 7-1 victory at Southeastern Louisiana Sunday morning at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
 
The Bobcats scored one team point in doubles play as they won two of the three matches between the two schools with Ashley Ellis and Nyssa Peele defeating Morgane Dadot and Ashley Longoria 83 and Mackenzie Farmer and Kiki Kruse winning their number-three doubles match by default.
 
Ellis also won the number two singles match with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory over Audrey Chelini, while Peele defeated Dadot 6-4, 6-4 in the number-three singles battle. Lainy Chafitz won the number-four singles match 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 over Longoria 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 and Kruse defeated Annika Hanke 6-4, 6-1. Texas State also scored another point in singles play as Farmer won her number-six match by default.
 
Southeastern Louisiana posted its only point in the match as Iva Velkovska defeated Andrea Giraldo 4-6, 6-3, 14-12 in the top singles match.
 
The win improves Texas State’s overall record to 9-5 this season and the Bobcats are 6-3 in Southland Conference action. Texas State returns home for its final two regular season matches against UTSA in an I-35 rivalry at noon on Friday, April 10 and close out the regular season against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on April 11 at 3:00 p.m.
 
Both matches will be held at the Bobcat Tennis Complex on the Texas State campus. The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi match also will be the final home match for seniors Ashley Ellis, Mackenzie Farmer and Andrea Giraldo.
